This is another one of my favourite books. As you can tell if you read my blog, I am quite a sceptic. While I’m not an hippy, I think its important to try and find happiness outside the modern world of advertising, marketing, government, where people program us into wanting more, so we have to work more, meanwhile our lives trickle away.
What comes first, our thoughts or our emotions? Are pleasure and happiness the same thing? How much of your life is controlled by marketers, how much is free will. Are notifications on your smartphone a good thing? Is social media a good thing if it allows your childs bullys into their bedroom? Should we concentrate on treatment of ailments or prevention? Is processed food addictive? Why are we unhappy when we live in a world that doesn’t leaving us wanting for anything to keep us safe and healthy?
I can’t answer the above questions, you will just have to read the book.
