A study has found that only 1 in 400 vehicles is a bicycle and that they could actually be increasing congestion and pollution.
Read more on www.visordown.comThis is not rocket science. You only need to go into Blackburn – all the way in there is an empty bus lane with queues and queues of traffic, engines running, burning away our futures. A bus lane doesn’t stop anyone from using their car – if they are in the car its because THEY CAN’T TAKE THE BUS. Or in a few cases there is a bus journey, but the bus journey is 2 hours longer.
There is a lot of politics about travel and pollution. I wish they would stop talking and start doing something positive that will make a difference.
Its not looking good though is it? Three years talking about brexit when most of the population recognised it was a referendum and we decided and we just needed to get on with it. Fourty years worrying about cholera and then they only built the sewer system in London in the 1800’s when the smell reached parliament. Thinking it was smell that caused it and they personally might die, not that it was coming into contact with it that did it. Will politicians ever improve?
On the subject of future cars, I personally think hybrids are a good thing, where the engine isn’t connected to the wheels, it is just used to charge the battery.
Also a lot of electric cars are very powerful, way to high performance for the low performance drivers that are going to drive them. 0-60 in 3s? Thats madness, its just an attempt to sell them when in practice you won’t be able to use that performance for very long otherwise they will run out of battery in about 10 minutes.
Why hasn’t anyone thought of reducing weight, reducing power? Because that doesn’t sell cars, even though we don’t need more cars (we just want older ones to last longer).
I’m going off at a tangent, think I’ll stop here…
