Climate Change

Like it or not, ignore it or not, climate change is here.

In 2022/2023, the weather is totally different to what I remember it in the past. Why is this? Well weather is driven by the amount of water vapour in the atmosphere, and it only takes a small rise in average temperatures to get much more water evaporating and then driving the weather. This is why weather is more extreme these days – because there is much more water vapour in the atmosphere.

The seasons have disappeared, we have hotter summers and colder winters – everything is more extreme.

In 2022, Pakistan had 10 times more rain in the monsoon. The USA is in a big freeze. There is no snow in the European ski resorts because the temperatures are more like May than January (20 degrees).

Having had temperatures of -8 overnight before christmas then +18 a day later (both unheard of when I was a child), I have been out today and the car said 10 degrees.

This is the biggest problem facing mankind, and our politicians still aren’t paying enough, indeed any, interest.

The biggest challenge for them is to separate CO2 emissions from economic growth, because every politician knows without economic growth they won’t win elections, they will lose to other politicians who say they can, whether they can or not isn’t important at that point.

This isn’t about begin “green” whatever that means, or buying an electric car, or giving away money we don’t have to poorer countries to apologise for us “causing” climate change when they are busy causing climate change themselves to promote economic growth and their own standards of living.

Every person/family/company/country needs to become truly carbon neutral. All money should be directed towards achieving this, before its too late. Not giving it to other countries so they can spend it on producing more carbon.

This has to start with preserving our rain forests and then increasing them. In the past 20 years rainforests worldwide have halved. These are the lungs of the world. What are we doing?
