I read recently that Bill Gates said that AI could save the planet.

I don’t have any time for this, I’ll let you google that one and fill your boots.

All I would like to say is that with the likes of Bitcoin mining and AI, and now with AI available on phones and in browsers, the energy consumption of data centres has gone through the roof.

AI takes a massive amount of power to process queries. Where is the power used? In the data centres that your device is connected to.

I know they say oh we are carbon neutral – but this only exists on paper, not everyone can be carbon neutral otherwise we wouldn’t have a problem.

I also read somewhere recently that Google admitted they couldn’t be carbon neutral because of the AI power requirement.

I think the way that big tech is pushing AI, they think its going to give them a competitive edge and earn them a lot of money, as if they need it, with the likes of Apple, Facebook, and Microsoft having more money than many smaller countries.

I am not a fan.
