This doesn’t affect me directly as I have worked from home for years, before the COVID outbreak.
There are a whole raft of arguments for a four day week working longer hours and little against for the average worker. The system I support is where each worker gets random days off, or four days on three days off as suits the business, not for them to decide individually.
That way, the things that people now sneakily have to do in works time, because they don’t have the time, or don’t have the time during the day, can be done on the day off. Also traffic is reduced for commuters and mental health is improved.
The government, as with most other dumb things that dumb politicians do, is against it. No doubt supporting the people (sponsors) who own buildings or businesses in cities, or wanting the extra traffic jams so they can earn more tax from petrol and pollution. This kind of thinking has to stop.
