I couldn’t believe how much knowledge can be obtained by different variations of sleep tests. Surely when you have done a couple you have done them all right? WRONG!!
It also has lots of interesting information, for example, I didn’t know that if you lose an hours sleep, you never catch it up, sure you can sleep an extra hour and feel less sleepy later, but your body has gone without sleep for an hour and has lost something as a result.
It doesn’t say it in the book, but I wondered after reading it
a) sleep is more important than society thinks. Jon Bon Jovi was so wrong when he sang “I’ll sleep when I’m dead”.
b) could losing sleep / changing time zones so often be the reason why airline pilots don’t tend to have long retirements? The same could apply to people working shifts as well.
