| This is a book I read about a year ago.Its a very good read. A couple of myths that I thought about were truly shot down by this book.
One is that we think there are too many people and too little resources in the world. The book argues that as we move forwards, we learn how to make use of more resources, for example, if we lived in the stone age, having all the oil in the world under our feet would be no good to us because we wouldn’t be able to get at it and have no use for it if we did.
The other one, which is what I really wanted to post on this blog (even though nobody ever reads it :-)), is that it argues about immigration. As long as an immigrant contributes to the economy, this is good for everyone because we are all better off. All we see in the news are stories about illegal immigrants.
Anyway, its a book that argues for immigration (talking about the USA I think but the same argument could apply here in the UK), but it covers many things that are relevant today…. This book was written in 1990. |
