Coca Cola Life

Coca Cola Life is using a new plant extract called Stevia, which is a great idea. Stevia is 100 times sweeter than sugar but doesn’t contain any calories.

The company that provides most of the worlds Stevia is called PureCircle.

I haven’t tried it, I stopped having soft drinks of all kinds 4 years ago and lost a lot of weight as a result.

Reading the website though, there is still 19g of sugar in each Coca Cola Life, which in my view is about 14g too much. You want to restrict your total for the day to about 50g max., and having even one bottle of Coca Cola Life will seriously put you close to the limit no matter what else you do.

People might question this sugar thing, but remember this – about 20 years ago or more, the average daily sugar intake was 100g – and we were a lot more active. Now we are much less active, drive everywhere, and have up to 300g of sugar on average. Get a phone app and monitor your sugar intake for a week if you don’t believe this. For me personally, too much sugar means my body can’t tell if its hungry or not, sugar just produces craving for more even if I’ve just eaten.

Still, it has to be an improvement on 500ml of Coca Cola, which has 54g of Sugar per 500ml.
