Politicians are despised in my view because they are totally motivated by self interest and trying to look good. They never work from facts or common sense and rarely have any compassion for the people they are supposed to serve.

However in these modern days of the internet, while people might not have long memories it is easy to search for some fact or other and find out the truth about something or what some politician said years ago about something. So I think people are probably even more disliked because of this, because they cannot claim they didn’t say something.

Journalists are almost as bad because they cover the biggest stories in order to get viewing figures/sell papers, and never cover the issues truthfully or in enough detail. News articles always raise more questions than they answer. Thankfully we have the internet to use as our news sources, I for one don’t have to watch the news on TV every evening, which is as bad as watching Jeremy Kyle.

Also, if a politician changes their view, this is classed as a “U-Turn” and are totally hit by the other side, which kind of gets in the way of finding out the facts and actually doing the right thing.

Military people are admired because everything they do, including putting their lives on the line when necessary, are dedicated to a worthwhile cause that is bigger than any one person. We have a massive debt to all military, past and present, for helping to keep us safe. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for politicians and journalists.

I think a lot of us admire leaders who can make decisions and actually lead, irrespective of if we agree with the decision or not. Sadly I don’t think the current politicians are capable of even working out the right answers, let alone executing them.

This blog is just a record of my views. I hope it will be of use to someone, or that someone may comment and tell me something I had not thought of. Either way its a record for me, if no one else.
