Just seen on the news that twelve companies including Morrisons, Subway and Nestlé have signed up to reduce the amount of saturated fat in foods, citing the link to heart disease.
My view is that for sure this is something the companies want because it gives them the opportunity to put more sugar in food and have a government backed marketing campaign to sell it to unsuspecting consumers.
Unfortunately proportionally too many carbs, particularly sugars like fructose and glucose are the real problem. The research done in the 1970’s that blamed too much fat has actually been discredited. If you don’t eat enough fat your liver tries to make its own nasty substitute fat that lines your arteries. If you eat real fat its digested without any ill effects like it has been since the Stone Age.
But even today the government can’t be bothered to get their facts right.
